Great place to have a wander or ride your bike and learn about the areas industrial past. The views would have been very different not so long ago and certainly not as nice as the ones today.
This area was once used for open cast mining, the history of which is detailed on the on-site information plaque. I am presuming the area was converted to a lake when the site was converted to a Country Park.
A very pretty lake with plenty of well placed seating to enjoy the tranquillity (of the pauses between the sounds of the passing trains). Woodland walks can be taken around here too.
