Thomas Lake is a beautiful alpine lake located on the east side of Mt. Sopris. At roughly 13,000 feet in elevation, this lake has clear blue waters and great camping on the shores.

The Crystal Mill located just outside of Marble is an old powerhouse that was constructed in the 1890s. It's right off the side of the forest road that you run on, so it's pretty much impossible to pass without catching your eye. There is a lot of history in this part of the mountains, and the remnants of these old mines and mills is a reminder of tougher times.

A stunning lake system in the White River National Forest, Thomas Lakes is an ideal spot to cool off during a hike and maybe enjoy a picnic.

This scenic loop trail is close to the town of Carbondale. You run through beautiful red rocks, juniper pines and shrubs. If the weather is clear, you can see the towering mountains of the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness in the distance.

Carbondale is a picturesque town located at the base of Mt. Sopris and confluence of the Crystal and Roaring Fork Rivers. National Geographic Adventure Magazine has ranked it as one of "The Top 10 Adventure Towns in the U.S.", so there is no shortage of outdoor activities. It is also a "Certified Colorado Creative District", so it has a vibrant art scene as well.

The Doctor Park Trail is a pretty sweet, secluded single track trail in Gunnison National Forest. There are a couple different trailheads for this point-to-point trail, but you can loop back down to the car via the service road if you don't want to have to overlap any of your route. You spend time in the trees, in open meadows, you pass alpine lakes, and hike next to creeks and rivers throughout the trek.
