Sylvan Lake is a popular destination to enjoy the wilderness. You can take a hike around the picturesque lake with unique smoothly shaped rock formations or climb up to Black Elk Peak – South Dakota's highest point.
Stockade Lake Trail starts right next to the parking lot at the lake and climbs up to about 5,600 feet. From the top you will have an amazing view over Black Elk Peak, Cathedral Spires and Little Devil's Tower.
Legion Lake Shore Trail is only a very short hike around the lake and therefore perfect for families. The most iconic highlight is 'Lenker Rock' that protrudes out of the lake.
