Beautiful, but crowded in July. There are nicer, less crowded swimming spots nearby.

A very beautiful waterfall with a loud noise from the falling water, located next to the Vilarinho das Furnas Dam, more or less halfway along the sand road that serves the site of the old village of Vilarinho.

Can sometimes be easily reached by car.

The Leonte Waterfall appears when the waters of the Taleira stream fall from a granite cliff, plunging 19 metres into the bed of the Gerês River. However, in drier summers, nature imposes its own rhythm and the flow can disappear, transforming the waterfall into a temporary silence.

The tour indicated is twice as long, so not 12, but 24km. For a round trip, I expected the entire route to be 12km. So we had to find a shortcut. It's a shame, but it was still nice.

Located directly on the N308-1. Parking nearby is extremely difficult. The best way is to stop at the border and then walk back along the road (around 1 km).

One of the most famous waterfalls is the Cascata Do Arado, whose waters pour into a picturesque swimming area. It's better to go in the morning - better light for taking photos.

Cascata do Ribeiro de Gemesura waterfall. It's right on a path, but it's closed to cars with a barrier - so walk about 1.5 km. This is not a natural waterfall, but at least a waterfall that flows directly into a reservoir is something special.
