Lianvatnet is on the very eastern fringes of Bymarka, not too far from the city. Its grassy surroundings are great for a picnic, while the lake is a popular fishing spot, though you'll need a license. A loop of the lake takes around 40 minutes.

Sølvskakkeltjønna is a beautiful lake to the south of the larger Stor-Leirsjøen. From here, it's not far to Rønningen, a farm that's been serving food since 1976.

A lovely section of trail in Estenstadmarka, this section takes you between the lakes of Tømmerholtdammen and Estenstaddammen. From here, you can hike to the Månen viewpoint for excellent city and fjord views or head for the Burmaklippen, Trondheim's mini Trolltunga.

Øyvindtjønna is a small lake between the mountains Vassfjellet and Litjfjellet. This place has been of great importance to hikers and pilgrims for centuries. It was named after the Englishman St. Edwin, king of Northumberland in the 7th century. From the lake you can see as far as Trondheim and the Nidaros Cathedral - a welcome sight for all pilgrims. Already in the Middle Ages a chapel stood here at the lake, of which only fragments remained after their destruction in the 17th century. These were initially kept in the Melhus rectory, but then fell as firewood the army of the Swedish General and Baron Carl Gustaf Armfeldt victim when he marched in 1718 through the valley. On the other side of the path is a small, unlocked refuge. With mattress and sleeping bag can be here with a maximum of two people a rainy night dry endure.
