Beautiful Alvar landscape.The path follows small ridgestones and plateaus mainly across limestone rocks. After the snowy season or significant rainful the trail can become waterlogged.

This route goes across Öland from coast to coast right through the nature reserve. It's worth stopping and taking a short hike.

Sturdy shoes are required as the path is often rocky and, depending on the weather, also damp.

Super rest area with barbecue area and picnic benches.

In the summer of 2022, a lush rest area by Öland standards, with numerous benches, some covered tables, the obligatory barbecue area and many information boards about Stora alvaret, was built directly on the west/east connecting road from Bårby to Alby. This is the perfect starting point for a hike into the moorland. There is also a bird watching platform northeast.
