The Croix des 7 Frères is a small, inconspicuous summit and the start of a nice ride in the area.

The Col de Pailhères isn't the most well-known of the Pyrenean passes, yet it's a concentration of everything cyclists are looking for. From Ax-les-Thermes, the slopes of this hors catégorie route constantly vary, requiring constant adjustments to finish at an altitude of over 2,000 meters in a superb setting.

After passing the village of Niort-de-Sault, this is where the climb to the Col de Pradel formally begins, as indicated by a nice sign. Despite this, the road is already climbing very slightly at 2% from the moment you take the D 107 towards the pass. I recommend taking a photo at this place to remember the start of one of the most spectacular climbs I have done in the Eastern Pyrenees.

Fairly easy pass with average gradients of 5% on both sides.

Cross the forest of Bélesta, pass of the cross of the dead, Belcaire, pass of the 7 brothers, descent to Niort de Sault, climb of Espezel, then return via the maquis of Picaussel, the Babourade....an excellent route, very pleasant with a lot of shade.

One of the best experiences on my entire tour. I have this picture with the view of the mountains as my screen background. The roads are still closed, the snow is piled up meters high on the sides and at the same time there is not a single car on the road. Simply fantastic

Located at an altitude of 1,253 meters, this pass is approximately 11 kilometers from the Chioula pass when arriving from Ax-les-Thermes. The road that leads there is very pleasant and panoramic. You can also go up there from Niort-de-Sault for 10 kilometers at around 4%. Its name comes from the disappearance of seven brothers who froze to death after getting lost in a snowstorm.

The Col de Pailhères, or Port de Pailhères, is one of the emblematic passes of the Pyrenees and the Tour de France. Culminating at 2,001 meters above sea level, it is one of the few passes in the Pyrenees to exceed the symbolic bar of 2,000 meters. The climb from Mijanès is 10.6 kilometers long with an average of 8.2%, including some passages at more than 10%. It is also possible to climb from Ax-les-Thermes by means of a climb of 18.6 kilometers with an average of 6.9%.

The Col de Pailheres is a fantastic climb and a must do if you're in the Ariège region. Best ridden from the eastern side (via Rouze and Mijanes) the climb is tough but the views are incredible and the route up offers a bit of everything. It is one of the best kept secrets in the Pyrenees - I'd take it over the Tourmalet any day of the week. The Col de Pailheres is a fantastic climb and a must if you are in the Ariège region. Simple port from Belcaire. The interesting thing is to take the detour to Niort de Sault towards the Rebenty valley and enjoy a simple road without hardly any traffic that circulates through a beautiful forest.

The Coll de Pailhères mountain pass that is located in the Ariège area, in the French Pyrenees Orientales. The summit is at an altitude of 2001 meters, linking the Aude valley with the Ariège valley, in an east-west orientation. It is an open top, therefore depending on the wind it can be a very cold top. I advise stopping just enough for the required photo.

Fantastic, pleasant pass road in the green Pyrenees: It goes straight up on a narrow strip of asphalt with mostly 8 - 10%: sometimes through small forests with numerous bends. Above, a wide view of the inland and, with good visibility, of the Mediterranean. Rough Pyrenees asphalt.

Altitude 1253 m. On the D613 between Belcaire and Camurac, no difficulty (the climb from Belcaire is easy). Departure from the D20 forest road (paved) towards Niort-de-Sault and the Rébenty valley, through the Niave forest. The name of the pass comes from the disappearance of seven brothers from the neighboring village of Comus, who died of cold, lost in a snowstorm, while they had gone to provide help one after the other, at the end of the 18th century.
