Here you can visit a park-like Buddhist temple, famous for its colossal statue of the important monk Luang Pu Thuat – very interesting. The statue is truly impressive, and the park with its fish is also worth seeing. 👍

Petchaburi is not only a province steeped in history, reflecting its long-standing local culture and lifestyle, but it also boasts numerous religious sites, particularly cave temples, scattered across mountains throughout the province. Five kilometers from the city center, in the direction of Khao Wang, a cave temple was built atop a small hill, only 92 meters high. It's not difficult to reach; the path to the temple is not particularly steep, allowing for either walking or driving uphill. The cave temple is only about a hundred years old. It was built during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, who wanted to construct a temple on Khao Luang Peak in honor of King Mongkut, who had once visited the Tham Khao Luang cave. King Chulalongkorn found the cave fascinating, filled with stalactites and stalagmites. The cave also features a hole through which sunlight enters and shines onto the rocks, creating a colorful ambiance and allowing visitors to appreciate the full beauty of its interior. This hole also allows cool air to flow into the cave, preventing it from becoming damp. King Mongkut, recognizing the cave's beauty, commissioned the construction of 10-meter-long concrete staircases leading from the mountain's base into the cave and also acquired the ancient Buddha images that had been restored in the cave prior to the Rattanakosin period. It is believed that the statues, including the six-meter-long reclining Buddha and the large Buddha image in the submissive Mara position, were brought from elsewhere and housed here by pilgrims. During his reign, King Chulalongkorn visited Petchaburi and desired to build a proper temple in Tham Khao Luang Cave in honor of his father, King Mongkut. He commissioned new Buddha images to be placed in the cave alongside the existing ones. He also inscribed the names of the first five kings of the Chakri dynasty's coat of arms at the base of one of the newer Buddha statues. Wat Tham Khao Luang has been renovated and improved. Nowadays, tourist guides are provided by the temple, and shops are available for visitors. Many monkeys also live at the temple.

The 1.5 km (and 750 m) unpaved path follows the stream to the fifth level. Lots of fish and butterflies. If you like nature and waterfalls, you should plan to visit the Pala-U waterfall.
