The Lords of Biberstein had their aristocratic estate in Sotterbach. This Sotterbach estate passed into the ownership of Sigesmund Rötzel from Alpe in the second half of the 18th century. This was done by dividing the estate between the Kleine brothers. In the years 1795 - 1798 he endeavored to sell the estate. Reasons for the endeavor were the many hardships, bad times, occupation, billeting by French and imperial troops and the many contributions that had to be made. Today the castle is privately owned.
