As you ascend the Figueroa Mountain Road Climb West, prepare for a visual feast that makes every pedal stroke worthwhile. You'll be treated to increasingly expansive views unfolding across the rolling Santa Ynez Valley, with its patchwork of vineyards and ranchlands. Look out for the distinct San Rafael Mountains rising dramatically around you as you climb higher into the Los Padres National Forest. Highlights include the breathtaking vistas from the upper sections, where the sheer scale of the wilderness becomes apparent, and on clear days, you might even glimpse distant ridges and the unique chaparral-covered landscape that defines this beautiful and rugged part of California.

Ranger Peak stands at 1,376 meters and boasts beautiful bright green slopes adorned with wildflowers surrounded by open meadows and scattered oak trees. There is a trail leading to the summit on the south side, accessible from Figueroa Road. If you're seeking an extended adventure, the view of Figueroa Mountain and beyond from the top is truly incredible.

Grass Mountain is a 3,685-foot peak in Los Padres National Forest. The trail up to the summit is gradual at first and ends with a really steep mile to the summit. This is a tough hike for how relatively short it is, but the views from the summit make it a worthwhile trek.

Going north to south it starts with a short step climb (about 9~10% at times) and then has a long descent towards Los Olivos. At its northern end it intersects with the Foxen Canyon Rd going past some wineries towards Sisquoc, and the Zaca Station Rd that would take you back to CA154 and Los Olivos.

From the intersection of Foxen Canyon Rd and Zaca Station Rd the road does a steady climb up past Koehler Winery and Fess Parker Winery. The summit is shortly before reaching Zaca Mesa Winery. 6km long and 170m elevation (3.7mi and 570ft). Average is 3% with some sections 5~6%.
