The Mangalem quarter is located in the shape of a semicircle in the southern and eastern parts of the Castle Hill in Berat. This residential complex exhibits the characteristics of a medieval urban development outside the fortification walls. Its construction phase may have begun in the 15th and 16th centuries, while the residential structures visible today were largely built in the 18th and 19th centuries and incorporate a combination of stone and wood elements.
