Artful buildings, natural beauty, and technology museums—there's much to discover in Kinding. The most striking building in Kinding itself is the remarkable "Kirchenburg" (Church Fortress), a unique art-historical gem. The numerous castles and ruins, as well as the natural beauty, are best discovered on walks and hikes. Lake Kratzmühl invites you to bathe, swim, row, and sunbathe—along more than two kilometers of shoreline.

Located on a striking hillside in the Sulztal Valley between Beilngries and Berching, Plankstetten Monastery is one of the most impressive and historically valuable monastic complexes in the Altmühltal Nature Park and is considered a monument of national importance. The complex is not a museum, but rather the home and workplace of a vibrant Benedictine community of monks. The monastery tavern offers organic beer, brewed by the Riedenburg Brewery, and delicious food. The organic shop and its accompanying wine cellar offer everything a gourmet's heart desires.

Located directly on the Anlauter. Beautiful view of St. Martin's Church in Schafhausen. Not far from there you can cross the Anlauter on a wooden bridge.
