Follow this pathway to the start of trail. it's up hill all the way to the top of the gorge. ground is road, pathway, tree roots, mud and rocks. ground is uneven so good boots and possibly poles if you are unsteady on feet

A great climb! Very long, but nice and steady for the most part.

Classic Mendip climb. Just ride it!

From West to East, starts as quite nice field edge singletrack (lots of nettles in summer though) before degenerating into a deeper rocky gully and stream. Good fun on MTB, bit of a bone shaker on CX/gravel.

Big initial section of steep hike 'a' bike followed by great single track through a few gates it gets pretty rocky especially on a gravel bike but still fun with great views of Somerset and the Mendip hills. I reckon you could footpath it across to the next bridleway climb off Bradley cross lane too.

Climbing is far nicer than descending, particularly when it's busy....

A great descent, and that's from someone who doesn't particularly like descending!

Basically riding down a river. Recommended as a descent (north to south) unless you like pushing your bike

One of the classic road climbs in the Mendips. There's still a good kick up after the second cattle grid so save some beans.

5.5% ave gradient for 3.5k

Look out for the famous 'Rock of Ages' on your right towards the bottom of the climb. It's a cleft in the rock face where an Anglican vicar called Augutus Toplady sheltered from a storm in 1776 and was inspired to write the hymn 'Rock of ages, cleft for me'.

Great climb. Never disappoints. Take it easy, enjoy the climb

Always fabulous. Careful on a windy day as you come round some of the corners through the gorge as it's like a wind tunnel! Flattens off gradually toward the top.

Great alpine style climb. Nothing too steep and great for a 20min plus challenge if you ride to the B-road junction.

Great climb, steep to start then gets easier, don't forget to look up at the glorious cliffs.

One of my favourite hills for descending, super quick and only a little twisty, but watch out as you will can be going a fair bit faster than the cars. Equally it's a great climb, not too steep and a nice consistent gradient.

Totally achievable iconic climb. The whole thing is about 10km but it’s only steep for the first 1.5km or so. There is one really nasty steep hairpin but once you’re past that you’ve nailed it! I’d rather ride up than down. Very busy on summer weekends with cyclists, motorcycles and cars (plus tourist busses) so pick your time wisely. Cars can get aggravated and impatient and it’s difficult to pass.

Awesome steady climb from village to summit. Not too tough for experienced riders. Enjoy coffee stop in one of the many options before you set off up the hill. Not too much cake though ;)
