Ards Forest Park is a wonderful place to come running at any time of the year. The terrain is very varied with sand dunes, beaches, lakes, forests and boardwalks, all there to delight your senses. There is a network of trails throughout the park that are just asking to be explored.

The trail takes you right past the tranquility of Sheep Haven Bay Beach. In Irish its name is Cuan na gCaorach, 'Haven of the Sheep', but this is due to a mistake in translation. Its name is actually Cuan na gCurrach which means 'Haven of the Boats' but it was misheard as 'sheep'.

This is a unique section of Ards Forest Park which takes you across the sand dunes and alongside Back Strand. There are benches along the way to stop for a picnic or just to enjoy the view.

Sheep Haven is a bay off the Atlantic Ocean on the north coast of Ireland. It offers multiple anchorages in a variety of coves in a tranquil rural setting, with some seasonal moorings at one of the village piers.
