The name "Novalisblick" is reminiscent of the Romantic poet Novalis. In his novel "Heinrich von Ofterdingen," he describes a hike up the Kyffhäuser and a viewpoint. This viewpoint is often associated with the Novalisblick. From there, you have a beautiful view over Kelbra and the "Goldene Aue" – one of the fertile lowlands in the area.

The building is a choir tower church constructed of quarry stone. Its massive, square choir tower originates from a late Romanesque structure, whose coupled arcades were added and which is topped with a tent roof and lantern. The rectangular choir is late Gothic, and the nave is essentially Baroque. The interior is characterized by rounded arches leading to the choir area and the choir end, which, along with the choir, were presumably significantly raised during the construction of the nave. The corbels of the former groin vault are still preserved. The nave is closed with double horseshoe galleries and a wooden barrel vault from the Baroque period. The single-nave village church on the northern edge of the Kyffhäuser Mountains dates back to the Romanesque period. Large parts of the tower, the foundation walls, and the sacristy on the south wall of the tower date from the 11th and 12th centuries. Even components from the former Tilleda palace on the Pfingstberg were incorporated.
