Get ride/walk along the Waikanae river. Just keep your eyes open for pedestrians, dog's off-lead (allowed) and of course other cyclists.

The highest point of the trail is ideal for a break; benches and tables are available.

Nice tour, just take the train to Maymorn. Then a slight climb to the summit and a very long descent to Cross Creek. Then it's easier to cycle out to Featherston. Return here by train. Alternatively, take the car to the starting point. Shuttle back from Royal Hotel at 2:15 p.m.
