This lake is almost circular in shape and is 170 meters long and 140 meters wide, with its deepest point measuring an impressive 11 meters. Surrounded by dense forest, Lake Hertha reflects the bright foliage and shines in the most magnificent colors, especially in the golden autumn. The route there takes hikers directly from the visitor car park in Hagen or from the Königsstuhl National Park Center through the impressive forest of the national park. Here, in the northeast of Rügen, you not only encounter the natural beauty of the island, but also immerse yourself in its fascinating history. On the north-eastern shore of the lake stands Herthaburg, a mighty rampart that witnessed Slavic settlement between the 8th and 12th centuries. When you step onto the small wooden pier, you will be treated to a picturesque view of the still waters of the lake. It is a place of peace, perfect for all hikers – young and old. But be warned, bicycles, even if pushed, are not allowed here. This place belongs to pedestrians to enjoy the atmosphere undisturbed.

The Spy(c)ker estate and castle are located in the municipality of Glowe in the Vorpommern-Rügen district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Spycker Castle is considered the oldest secular building on the Baltic Sea island. Spycker was first mentioned in 1318. At that time it belonged to the Stralsund patrician von Külpen family. In 1344 a daughter from the von Külpen family married into the Jasmund family. This is how the Spyker branch was founded by Jasmund, which died out in 1648. The castle is a rectangular, three-story plastered brick building from the 16th century.
