Great trail, starting with a nice terrain of small stones and pine needles interspersed with a few steps and a small technical climb, then at the bottom it becomes steep on more difficult terrain, with a few hairpins. Note that there is an escape route on the right about 3/4 of the way down, very little visible. Rating S2.

An exhilarating section of switchback singletrack that descends down to near the lake's edge. It's continuously steep for a kilometre, but although not overly technical, it does require some good handling skills.

To get to this trail you have to go up from Barcelonnette along a good forest road with beautiful views to the Col des Aralis and then you will simply continue on your mountain bike down. At the top it is steep with some tight bends, which will be slippery when wet. After that, it becomes smoother all the way back to the valley. The top part is a very steep and technical descent, with many hairpin turns. Some parts are very exposed.

The Wasteland the Beauty of May The creation of the Friche has enabled the district to retrain, and to offer the inhabitants of the arrondissement, and the people of Marseille, a real cultural and economic center. With 450,000 visitors per year, 2500m2 of exhibition space, 6 concert halls, 2 performance halls, shared gardens, a restaurant, a crèche, a bookstore, an 8000m2 roof terrace and more than 600 events per year, the Friche is a cosmopolitan place and vector of meeting and sharing, like the Phocaean city. All year round, the Friche la Belle de Mai offers a complete cultural program. Open to all, you can stroll along the “green wasteland” (the green space of the place), go through the playground of “street art” artists, or even stop for a drink at the “Café de La Room”, open every day. For skateboarders of all ages and all levels, the Skatepark de la Friche is a must. It is a one-of-a-kind piece of equipment, designed by the Constructo agency, which specializes in skate park engineering. It offers many modules dedicated to the “street” practice of skateboarding. Very popular with riders from the city, the Skatepark de la wasteland is worth the detour. If you are peckish, “Les Grandes Tables” de la Friche invites you to taste seasonal products full of flavors. More than a restaurant, “Les Grandes Tables” is a place of meeting, culinary and cultural sharing and reflection on cooking and food. Several projects have been set up: The Farmer's Market on Monday evening, Les grandes Carrioles, or even street food as a duo: chef / artist. Orpierre has two camp sites: "Les Princes d'Orange" which is a bit deluxe with swimming pool and chalets and a "family and kids" vibe to it. "Les Noyers" just next to it (and sharing the same reception office) is much cheaper, with very basic facilities (but perfectly clean and agreeable, more laid back and a "climbing / hiking / mountain-biking" vibe. Orpierre also has its own municipal swimming pool. Another very nice camp-site is "Les Catoyes" about 4km up the road towards Laborel. Live bands on Monday evenings in the summer!
