Between the Dusia and Metelis lakes, south of the village of Meteliai, there is a 15 m high observation tower designed by the architect A. Gudelis. The metal structure is clad with wooden beams and blends into the landscape of the Meteliai Regional Park. The observation tower offers a panoramic view of the Metelis Lake, the village of Meteliai, the Kemsinė meadow and a narrow section of the Dusia Lake. From the tower you can watch birds flying over the lake and hear the frogs croaking in the reeds.

Great view from the bridge over the Nemunas. This stage is part of the Green Velo from Alytus. Shortly after the bridge, the path disappears into the forest. When we were there it was raining and the path was relatively swampy.

The Memel, also Njemen, (Lithuanian Nemunas) is a 937 km long river that flows from Belarus via Lithuania into the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. In a short section of about 15 km, it marks the Lithuanian border with Belarus, and on the lower reaches the border with the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad (Wikipedia).

The monument to Grand Duke Vytautas was erected in 2010 in one of the oldest settlements of Lithuanian Tatars - in Raižiai (Alytus district). A capsule with a message for future generations containing information about the importance of the Battle of Grunwald, the Grand Dukes Vytautas and the history of the Tatars was embedded under the monument. There are also two sundials in Raižiai. One shows the local time, the other the time of the Battle of Grunwald.
