The Commandery of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem is located in the municipality of Hohenrain. It is one of the oldest Hospitaller settlements in Switzerland. It was first mentioned in 1182/83 as a commandery. Parts of the complex, dating from the late 12th and 13th centuries, have been largely preserved as part of a medieval castle belonging to the Order. 지난번에는 성곽을 놓쳤는데, 이번에는 나무 꼭대기 사이로 간신히 발견했습니다. 집에 와서 조사해 보니 더 자세히 살펴볼 만한 가치가 있을 것 같습니다.

Did you know that the "castle," as it is popularly known, was built around 600 years ago, and to this day, it remains unclear who built it and for whom? This is all the more surprising given that most of the historic buildings in Beromünster are mentioned by name from the earliest times. The castle is a museum and also houses the oldest printing press in Switzerland (dating back to 1470). Please note! The museum has very specific opening hours. During these hours, it can only be admired from the outside.
