I took a detour and followed a path marked by black lines in the komoot map. It quickly became too boggy to be rideable.

Great route into Glasgow city centre. Well marked and maintained surface.

Lovely riverside path to make fairly quick progress between Balloch on Glasgow.

Fallen trees (April 2025) across lochside path along Loch Humphrey have been cleared (June 2205).

Balloch is known as the gateway to the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. It's well-connected to Glasgow by train, making it a popular destination for a day trip. There are a nice selection of shops and places to eat, activity providers and the restored paddle steamer, Maid of the Loch, is moored here.

Slight diversion in place on to the north bank path whilst the towpath is being upgraded as you come out of Clydebank heading back towards Glasgow as of 7/3/24

Good wee coffee stop.

Very cool bridge to cross by bike but beware...it's high above the river, narrow and low sided so you can see all the way down. If you scare easily, or if it's windy, think about pushing

Corlick Hill stands at 303m, and offers uninterrupted 360-degree views over the Clyde Muirshiel Park. The surround area is littered with history, featuring damage from WW2 bombs, and remnants of Iron Age and Roman buildings.

Best done on a gravel bike due to a rough track coming from Kilmalcolm direction.

The fisheries cafe is basic but serves good food cooked to order and an often very welcome hot drink. Worth a pit stop when running here.

Loch Thom is now a reservoir that has supplied water to the town of Greenock since 1827. The loch is also used for sport fishing and is popular for walking and cycling.

Just you, the road, the views and the sheep! Old Largs Road is a stunning piece of road that links Largs and Loch Thom. Sometimes it really is just you and the sheep as you roll through Clyde Muirshiel park. A real highlight of the area!

Exactly what it says on the tin - a fun statue of a big bike along NCN Route 7. Definitely worth stopping for a photo of the statue with your own bike.

The climb is much better though.
