Lake Garda (Italian Lago di Garda or Benaco), one of the northern Italian lakes, is the largest lake in Italy, named after the municipality of Garda on the eastern shore. Its ancient name was from around 200 BC. to 800 AD Lacus benacus. The name is said to come from an ancient deity named Benacus. Lake Garda was formed in the last ice age by a branch of the Etsch glacier, the traces of which can still be traced, especially through the terminal moraines around the southern bank. Desenzano del Garda is a worthwhile destination on a tour. Quiet, beautiful town with a great promenade and some other sights.

Solferino is known for the Risorgimento battle of Solferino and San Martino. Following this tragic historical event, here H.Dunant had the idea of founding the International Red Cross. From a cycling point of view, the territory is that of the morainic hills of the Alto Mantovano. These are gentle hills on which it is possible to enjoy easy itineraries. Lower Garda with Desenzano is about ten km away. The proximity favors itineraries that lead to the shores of the lake and its arch of moraine hills.

Great section of the tour. The promenade is really nice, overall Desenzano is a worthwhile destination! Yes, the way is the goal!
