11월 8, 2025, Huntington Castle
Very little to see, if you head towards Mahollam road junction, before the drive to castle cottages there is an unmarked double gate, easily opened, walk up the rise and look to the left and you should see the remains of the castle,

10월 7, 2025, New Radnor Castle
Originally a motte and bailey Norman castle, only the earthwork mound and ramparts remain now. The castle is accessible by public footpaths from the nearby village of New Radnor and the castle still command a ranging view over the village and countryside. The castle's former use as a gaol ensured New Radnor's status as the former County Town before that status was moved to the larger Presteigne.

7월 19, 2025, Knighton Clock Tower
This is the start point of the Glyndŵr's Way National Trail which winds through mid-Wales and ends at Welshpool. It's not as popular a trail as Offa's Dyke which is the main reason you'll meet other hikers here in Knighton.

A long push (for most of us), but great views from the top.

Knighton is a beautiful border market town and is unique in being the only town to sit astride Offa's Dyke national footpath. It is also notable as the starting point of Glyndwr's Way, following the route of the Welsh leader's significant battles. It is also a mecca for border cyclists and there are plenty of routes to navigate the surrounding hills and stunning countryside.

6월 8, 2021, Ye Olde Tavern
When a pub is named Ye Olde Tavern, you know to expect timeless charm, real ale and a friendly welcome. This lovely, Grade-II listed country pub is handily located to provide fortification for visiting hikers. As well as beautiful walking in the surrounding countryside, the Offa's Dyke Path, the Herefordshire Trail and the Mortimer Trail all pass through Kington. The pub was built at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and was originally called the House in the Fields. When trains arrived in Kington, it changed to the Railway Tavern, before changing to Ye Olde Tavern in 1964 when the railway closed. It won the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) title of best Herefordshire pub in 2009.

Black Mixen is a subsidiary summit of Rhos Fawr or Great Rhos in the Radnor Forest. The summit is large peat bog plateau. The summit is marked with a cairn, and is next to a radio transmitter and its building. Black Mixen is the only UK registered Nuttall to have a communications mast on its summit.

Experience from summer 2019: I wouldn't call the town a highlight anymore, vlt. once it was. In the meantime, it looks partly run down, many shops are closed and restaurants are scarce. It is simply because of the hiking trail Offa's Dike and you therefore have to get through here. I cannot recommend more than a stop-over-night here.

10월 8, 2019, Knighton Clock Tower
Knighton is a market town with winding streets and half-timbered houses. There is evidence of human settlement at Knighton since the Stone Age, but the town you see today is mostly of medieval origin. The Welsh name for the town is ‘Tref-y-Clawdd’, which means ‘town on the Dyke’, and Knighton is the only town to lie on the line of Offa’s Dyke, a large linear earthwork along the England and Wales border named after Offa, the Anglo-Saxon king of Mercia from AD 757 until 796, who is believed to have ordered its construction. As such, it is the spiritual home of Offa and the Offa’s Dyke National Trail.

Small campsite on the route of the Sustrans NCN and the Offas Dyke path. There is a single shower and toilet as well as drinking water. When we stayed in 2019 it was £5 pppn. The campsite is run by a friendly lady who offered advice on local pubs and restaurants in the town.
