The town of Grand Lake is located at the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. It is situated in a beautiful mountain landscape and serves as a starting point for many activities in the western half of the park.

Very close to Rollins Pass, taking the High Lonesome Trail you can reach this point from where you'll have incredible alpine views over King Lake. Definitely a great spot for photos!

As you wrap around King Lake, there is an amazing view of the alpine lake down in the bowl. It's recommended to do this trail counter-clockwise if you start before the sunrise as it's more technical towards the end (when the sun would be up).

Haynach Lakes are composed of a big lake, another small one, and a few ponds, featuring meadows that have plenty of wildflowers during summer. The lake is known for being home to different trout species, that can be ‘caught and kept’, except for the Greenback Cuttrout that needs to be released. There is a small peninsula at the big lake from where you can observe fish swimming, if you’re lucky. This is a long and beautiful trail that passes by Granite Falls, going through Tonahutu Creek Trail and long and wild meadows. The hike to Haynach Lakes can be done in a long day or planned as an overnight trip.

County Road 33 runs on the southern dam of the large shallow reservoir with panoramic views.

Lake Granby is the third largest body of water in Colorado. It's located on the Colorado River at 8,280 feet and offers many options for outdoor enthusiasts.

Lake Dorothy is a beautiful alpine lake in the southern part of Indian Peaks Wilderness. At 12,061 ft Lake Dorothy is the highest lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness and can still be frozen over until July.
