I am always fascinated by the different architectural styles of churches.

+++New opening hours from August 1, 2025+++ The sculpture garden in Plinz was created by the artist Jochen Bach in the mid-1990s. He moved to Plinz in 1972 with his wife Gisa, then young architects, and transformed it into a very special place. He exhibited and sold his paintings in the former mill. Sadly, he passed away at the end of 2022 at the age of 80. I, his daughter, have now returned home and continue to run the gallery, selling and exhibiting my own works here alongside his paintings. We maintain and maintain the sculpture garden with private funds and would like to continue to share it with people who come to Plinz to find peace and inspiration. Since this is a rather time-consuming undertaking, we will be limiting access to two days a week starting August 1, 2025: Saturday & Sunday 🪴 Garden open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 🖼 Gallery open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visits outside of these hours are only possible upon personal request. The station was sold, and the result is impressive. A lot of money was certainly invested in the reconstruction and extensive renovation. Well done!

The church, which stands outside the historic center, is estimated to have been built in the 13th century. The original frescoes on the northern interior wall of the church also support this age. The wall paintings and the preserved support beams only extend to the middle of the nave and convey an impression of the church's original size.

The Saale Valley Bridge along the A4 motorway near Jena is not only one of the most impressive bridges in Germany, but also a significant monument to the history and progress of bridge construction. The ruins of Lobdeburg Castle are among the most impressive and best-preserved Romanesque secular buildings in Thuringia. They are also among the most important cultural monuments in the territory of the independent city of Jena and represent an important local recreation destination for the people of the surrounding area.
