The ⛪️Sortland Kirke is probably the oldest building in the city. It dates from 1901 and has, among other things, a beautiful altar inside. However, the church tower is much older. An inscription on the 🔔bell states the year 1476. This makes it one of the oldest church towers in 🇳🇴 Norway.

When visiting Sortland, a visit to the church is a must. The church stands alone on the outskirts of Sortland and is therefore good to look at. The church is a long wooden cruciform church in neo-Gothic style and was consecrated in 1901. The previous church, built around 1776, was demolished in 1902. The tower survives and now stands at the entrance to the memorial cemetery on the old church grounds in Sortland. The clock in the tower has an inscription from 1476.
