In spring, there may still be a lot of snow at the bottom of the gorge.

The Ämmänkoski Rapids are amazing to watch as the powerful rapids rush through the rocks and trees, creating a captivating natural spectacle. The sound of the rushing water combined with the surrounding forested area provides a peaceful and immersive experience. It’s a perfect spot for you to indulge in some photography, wildlife watching, or simply pause to enjoy the sensory experience.

Tyyskänniemi Koskipuisto is located along the Kämäri Luontopolku where you can enjoy a unique natural experience. This area, known for its scenic beauty, is home to flowing waters, lush greenery, and diverse wildlife. The Koskipuisto (Rapids Park) offers you picturesque views of the river, and the peaceful surroundings make it an excellent place to stop and relax.

The Orinoro Gorge was formed by meltwater flows at the end of the last ice age, around 10,000 years ago. A stream of meltwater that flowed northwest to southwest as the ice sheet retreated cleared the gorge of loose rock and soil.

One of the seven wonders of Savo, well worth seeing.

Here you can take a nice break and have a barbecue, for example. There is also a small outhouse.
