2월 4, 2026, Pico Mijas
It takes about 4 hours to go up and down at a normal pace, going up past the old dog pound in Mijas Pueblo. Medium-high difficulty level.

A fantastic viewpoint, reachable from Mijas with a 600m ascent and descent. There are two or more routes to the summit, making for a nice circular hike.

4월 10, 2025, La Concha Peak
La Concha is a wonderful goal for a stunning view and hike. Two considerations: When it is very sunny, you’ll be exposed to the sun pretty much all the time. Sunscreen and a hat are most definitely necessary. There are two great starting points: one from Istan (more elevation) and one from the Refugio (less elevation, starts in a forest). I have done both hikes and would recommend to start with the one from Refugio: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/2144328300

Pico del Cielo is an impressive peak located in the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara, and Alhama Natural Park, near Nerja. The route is approximately 20 km (round trip) and can take between 6 and 7 hours to complete. It's a challenging hike in terms of endurance, but technically easy.

12월 18, 2024, Puerto del Viento
Puerto del Viento is a climb in the Costa del Sol region of Spain that is popular with cyclists and walkers. The pass connects Ronda to El Burgo and is approximately 11.2 kilometres (7 miles) long from Ronda and 13.3 kilometres (8.3 miles) long from El Burgo. It has an elevation gain of 360 metres (1,180 feet) from Ronda and 612 metres (2,000 feet) from El Burgo, with an average gradient of 3.2% and 4.6% respectively. This route offers stunning views of the Sierra de las Nieves and Sierra de Grazalema, and is a great place to explore the nature and landscape of Andalusia. It is a relatively quiet route with little traffic, making it ideal for a relaxing and enjoyable ride.

11월 9, 2024, Cross of Cerro de San Antón
Easy tour (relatively, in our opinion) with 500 meters of elevation from Malaga Este to Cerro de San Anton. At the top, spectacular views of Malaga, the coast with the suburbs of El Palo and Pederegalero (M. Este) and the hinterland. A must-do!

Good views from both mountains. Good path. On the cross you have to pay attention to the stones, they are slippery with humidity.

5월 7, 2024, Cerro Majano - La Esperanza
Nice walk. First visited Castilla and then walked up the park garden behind the Miramar shopping center with stairs to Mijas, from there visiting the highest point via dirt roads. Then back to the coast via narrow nature paths. At the beginning of May I saw many different plants, shrubs and herbs that were in bloom. The hoopoe (bird) seen in the wild. Walked back to the coast through the luxury holiday village of Faro. From there along the coast back to Castilla.

Our local mountain in Malaga Este. From below, at sea level, the double peak looks really impressive. From here the ascent and descent are not without effort. But it's worth it.

12월 3, 2023, Pico Torrecilla (1,919 m)
Hiking in October: note that when you get near to posas (round ice storage made of tiles) there could be flying a LOT of quite big insects. NOT a great place to have snack or take a break. They land on you and your food. Take a good amount of water and protein/salty lunch with you as the trail could be as long as 20 km if there might be a locked gate by the parking lot and it's 3 km from there to trail head. Start the hike early in the morning that you get back in daylight. You can also choose to come down the road but it's about 5 km and very boring. Might catch a stunning sunset above misty mountains though. 👍 We had Salomon parh running shoes and they were excellent for this hike. We recommend also to use walking poles: they help you to get up and down safely in steepest parts of this trail. Worth the hike to go here. Stunning views from the summit.

9월 12, 2023, Pico Mijas
The Pico de Mijas, with its 1,150 m, is the highest peak in the Sierra de Mijas. The large white ball, located at the top, is the installation of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) station - which is why Pico Mijas is also known as "Pico de La Bola". The views from the top are impressive - the mountains, coast and sea at our feet. Remember, this is a fire hazard area, always pick up all trash and respect the environment, thank you!

Las Lomas de Majano are characterized by their different small hills, one of them La Esperanza (106 m). There are several small trails ideal for a quiet walk, without large slopes, until we reach the Hippodrome, which we can see from above.

5월 17, 2023, Pico de la Maroma Summit
To reach the parking lot at Llanadas de Sedella requires a vehicle with 4-wheel drive like a Land Rover Defender. There are gates that might be closed so you must check with the park authorities beforehand - not much space to turn the vehicle around on this narrow road. Once there the view is stunning with horses grazing around. But be cautious! The recommended track we took to reach the top are for expert hikers. Some parts are very steep (>35%) with loose stones. If you suffer from vertigo, avoid! You need support by both hands at time. It’s not an official track but rather a path used by sheep, whose poo indicate that you are on the right track. (There is a northern track that serpentines its way up that might be more convenient). But once you are on the white-green path originating from the Fuentes del Robledal it’s ok. You are exposed to strong winds and no shelter from the sun. Bring lot’s of water and calculate 6hrs return hike. Once you have reached the top of la Maroma you will have a fantastic view over Andalucia with the Sierra Nevada at your back and Gibraltar in front.
