Located near the town of Cuenca that shares its name, the dam was inaugurated in 1958. It stands 78.10 meters high and has a water storage capacity of 1,638 hm³ across an area of 8,194 hectares. Its waters flow through, among other towns, Buendía, Alcocer, Alcohujate, and Villalba del Rey. From the dam, one can access the route to the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Forsaken, a favorite spot well worth visiting.

This complex is made up of four lagoons: Manjavacas, Sánchez Gómez, La Dehesilla (in Mota del Cuervo), and Alcahozo (in Pedro Muñoz). It is a key point on the migratory routes of birds between Europe and Africa, which gives it international importance.

The Manjavacas Lagoon, located in the municipality of Mota del Cuervo (Cuenca), is part of the Manjavacas Lagoon Complex, a nature reserve of great ecological and scenic value.

It was built in 1972 at the confluence of the Cabriel and Guadazaón rivers. The dam height is 129 metres. Its purpose is, among other things, to supply water to the city of Valencia. The Contreras Bridge was built between 1845 and 1851 by the engineer Lucio del Valle. To descend the ravine, he had to build a zigzag road that formed the port of Contreras.

Laguna Grande is located near Masegosa, in the Serranía de Cuenca. It is part of the Lagunas de El Tobar, which also include Laguna Pequeña and Laguna Ciega. Laguna Grande has a perimeter of about three kilometres and a depth of approximately 20 metres in the centre. Laguna Grande is a wildlife refuge, where otters and various aquatic birds can be observed. It is also an authorised bathing area during the summer, making it a popular destination for visitors.

The Mirador al Embalse de La Toba is an impressive place to enjoy panoramic views of the reservoir and its natural surroundings. Located in the Serranía de Cuenca, this viewpoint offers a spectacular view of the reservoir, which extends over more than 150 hectares.🌄🚶‍♂️🚵🚴😎
