If you look carefully, there's a couple of hidden bridges along the footpath; they're overgrown now - Nature will take everything back - but they are there! And then there's this section, which (when looking the other way) has a canal entering the river.

This is a decent gravel/broken road link up to the Round Hill. Unfortunately the farmer likes to make somewhat of a mess on the track so just be cautious of slick patches.

Although the little signs by the gates show this is a footpath, it is *also* a permissive bridleway, meaning that you're fine to ride along here on a bike, although there's a few gates to navigate. Definitely recommended to link up the Bristol to Bath path to the Bath Soft Cheese farm and café - one of the best cafés around and close to some premium tracks around Kelston too.

St Mary's is a Grade II-listed church nestled in idyllic countryside on the outskirts of Saltford. It dates to the 12th century but was rebuilt in the mid-17th century after being damaged in the Civil War. The church has a very peaceful atmosphere and it is great to look around. Inside, you can observe a fine example of a 13th-century font, with circular top on chamfered octagonal base with eight well-carved early Gothic style heads.

The Bird in Hand is a traditional pub in the heart of Saltford. You can grab some lovely food and drink here, especially the Sunday roasts. The beer garden is spacious and sunny. The pub is conveniently placed right beside the Bristol Bath Cycle Path, so a great place to stop on a hike or a ride. While you are here, it is worth exploring the village, which has some idyllic houses, a 12th-century church and a peaceful riverside.

This is a wonderful spot next to the gently-flowing River Avon. Stunning and tranquil, it's a good place for a swim. Whether you're stopping for a moment to catch your breath on a run, or having an afternoon picnic, it doesn't get much better than this. Enjoy.

Gravel/well surfaced/farmland trail to the cycle path. Bath Soft Cheese to The Bird In Hand... not a bad combination! Best on a bike or with feet... wouldn't take the car. Would definitely get cheese and probably some chips, quite possibly a beer also!

Sort of accessible from the Bristol Bath cycle path, but there are some steps and 5 gates to get past so you’re better off on foot. Worth the effort tho. The cheese toasties are epic.

They also have a boules terrain. Cycling beer and petanque. Perfect evening!

Bath Spa University has simply one of most beautiful campuses of any University anywhere. Set in the midst of rolling hills and fields dotted with ancient buildings and a castle, walled gardens and grounds designed by Capability Brown. Bath Spa University is also transected through and though with public footpaths, cycleways and rights of way. Definitely worth a visit ... even if you don't study here ...
