It was a very nice and enjoyable walk good if you don't like very hill walks. when we got to the caves we decided to take another footpath that said it was quicker and because it was raining and the path was next to a cliff face we were stuck for like half an hour until we found a dirt road that lead down the hill . other than that good walk and cool bridge

The Wye was voted the nation’s favourite river in 2010. It starts not far from my home town in Brecon in mid-Wales and trundles south for some 150 miles before meeting the Severn. I have forgotten how many times I have cycled it, run it and kayaked it. Simply my favourite place on earth!

The section is one of the many wooded areas incorporated into the Forest of Dean. The forest was designated the first national forest park in 1938. Today it is a wildlife haven and very popular with tourists. It is still a working forest, producing sustainable timber for the UK market.

Biblins Bridge connects the Forest of Dean with the larger part of the Wye Valley. It has fantastic views along the river and of the surrounding woodland. Biblins Youth Campsite can be found on the other side of the bridge. The campsite is beautifully positioned on the river and makes a fine spot to spend the night. The campsite is open to ages up to 25. Please note you must dismount when crossing the bridge.

The fourth-longest river in the UK, the Wye stretches 155 miles (250 km) from its source on Plynlimon in the Cambrian mountains to the Severn estuary. For much of its length, the Wye marks the border between England and Wales, with the lower section being designated an AONB. The Wye is important for nature conservation and recreation, but, particularly in recent years, is severely affected by pollution.

There's been a footbridge at Biblins since the 1920s, but the iconic suspension bridge that spans the Wye near to Symonds Yat today was first constructed in 1957. Vulnerable to damage by flooding, the bridge is regularly inspected and may be closed if the river is particularly high.

The bridge can only hold 6 max it says and you are told not to run or jump or you can damage it. I went on a windy day and it was certainly an experience

This route is not specifically waymarked but follows public footpaths. Start by descending steep steps to join the Peregrine Path along the River Wye. Cross over the Biblins bridge and return along the footpath and hand ferry to Symonds Yat West. Climb back up the steps for well deserved refreshments at the café.

Redbrook was historically an important industrial centre with many industrial sites including mills, an ironworks, tinplate works and copper works. The oldest site is the King's Mill, which was a corn mill first recorded in 1434 and which remained in use until 1925. The Redbrook Copper Works used ore brought from Cornwall via Chepstow and worked until 1740 when it closed down and the buildings were leased for the manufacturer of tinplate. It is from this iron ore that the village got its name – the brook running down the valley through the village often ran dark red. The tinplate factory, run by the Redbrook Tinplate Company, was known for the high quality product it made and did not close until 1962. Redbrook was also a river port where the various products of the local industries were shipped. The village once boasted no less than 13 Inns and three breweries. The last brewery to close, in 1926, was Redbrook Brewery and the site is still marked by Brewery Yard and Brewery Terrace. Redbrook on Wye was the last station before Monmouth on the Wye Valley Railway. The railway was opened in 1876 to connect Monmouth to the South Wales line, closing to passengers in 1959 and freight in 1964.[3] Today a wood-decked footbridge spans the river which once carried the railway.[4]
