A local gem near Holmfirth and in the Holme Valley. Tranquil woodlands, forest paths and wooden bridges.

This reservoir is located on the edge of the Peak District. It's surrounded by rolling hills and greenery and is a wonderful spot for a stroll in nature. It's part of a series of reservoirs that supply fresh water to the region.

Free Carpark with toilets. Get there early!

The ruins of the former village of Hades (pronounced like Shades, not like the Greek hell!)

A lovely spot just off the road with trail paths all around and a great view down to Winscar. Just be mindful that the paths on the southern bank get pretty muddy after rain!

Lovely spot to take a moment and enjoy nature doing nature. This is essentially the start of the River Don that flows from here all the way through Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster before joining the Ouse at Goole! (The Actual source is a little bit further up the hill if you head through the nearby Grains Plantation)

Usually you can get across here by stepping stones but it might be impassible after heavy rain, unless you don’t mind wet feet!

Winscar Reservoir, near Holmfirth in West Yorkshire, is a picturesque man-made lake dating back to 1850. Surrounded by rolling hills, it offers opportunities for scenic walks, birdwatching, and a peaceful escape in nature.
