After the Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene is the most frequently mentioned woman in the New Testament writings. Like Mary Magdalene, the life of every Christian is embraced by this overflowing joy: We have a God at our side who calls us by name and lifts us up, who transforms us and the world through his resurrection." The feast day of Saint Mary Magdalene in the liturgical calendar is unanimously celebrated on July 22 by the major Christian denominations.
