Cyclable 'Back lane' next to Windmill, runs parallel to the main rd to Wicken Fen visitor centre.

Wicken Fen and White Fen are places that are a must for any biker in Cambridgeshire.

Stop if you like nature or just stop if you want refreshment's or the loo. There is also a bike rental shop who may be able to help you out if you have a problem with your bike.

Burwell Lode links the village of Burwell with Reach Lode. Lodes are thought to be Roman in origin and its the name given to man-made waterways in Cambridgeshire. They often connect villages and other waterways.

The reserve includes fenland, farmland, marsh, and reedbeds. Wicken Fen is one of only four wild fens which still survive in the Great Fen Basin area of East Anglia, where 99.9% of the former fens have now been replaced by arable cultivation. Wicken Fen is the National Trust's oldest nature reserve and is hailed as England's most famous fen. The expansive reserve is home to more than 9,000 species of flora and fauna, including hen harriers, water voles and bitterns. There are raised boardwalks that enable you to explore the flowering meadows, sedge and reedbeds.

Wonderful place to cycle with some good scenery. nice compacted gravel paths.

An additional feature at Wicken Fen, Sedge Fen is a managed habitat with amazing displays of butterflies. Separate charges (free to NT members) apply. In July 2020, you had to pre-book a timed entry due to Covid-19 restrictions.
