Newbury is in Berkshire, not Hampshire, and the canal never enters Hampshire either.

This is a beautiful little church situated in Spleen, in the larger district of Newbury. The original church that was built here dated back to 1086 and some of the remains of the original building still exist today. It's a pleasant place for a rest mid-walk.

Newbury is a vibrant and bustling town located on the banks of the River Kennett in Hampshire. The town is known for its historic buildings, quaint shops, and busy markets, as well as a number of historical sites such as the ruins of Donnington Castle and the 12th-century St. Nicholas Church.

A former railway bridge creates a beautiful scene as you make your way along Lambourne Valley Way.

A tree-lined avenue leads you along Northcroft Lane. The lane runs adjacent to Goldwell Park and Northcroft Playing Fields where you can find sports fields, wooded paths, a BMX track & play equipment, including a zip slide.

Pleasant coffee stop.

Built in 1796, this impressive lock is still in perfect working order. It's part of the Kennet and Avon Canal, and can be found right in the centre of Newbury. The lock is a grade II-listed structure and was originally the most easterly lock on the canal before it was extended.
