This lake is located in the heart of the Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve. There is a path that allows you to walk around the lake while enjoying its tranquility and diverse wildlife, with birds and butterflies being notable highlights.

This area is perfect for enjoying nature while running along its numerous trails. In addition to the lake and its surrounding wetland habitat, it features ancient and secondary woodlands and a brook. It boasts a wide variety of wildlife, with over 50 species of birds and 100 species of butterflies and moths standing out.

Longwater Lake is the focal point of Green Park, a business park and residential area. A walk around its calm, flat waters are a good tonic to a stressful day.

Set in the grounds of Reading University, Whiteknights Lake is a secret wildlife wilderness in the chaos of the town. There is a public right of way through the park but some routes, like the loop around the lake, are permissive paths.
