The attractive town of Royston features on both the Icknield Way and Hertfordshire Way long-distance paths. In fact, its ancient Royce Stone is the official start point of the latter. The town has plenty of places for hikers to stock up on supplies, as well as accommodation options and eateries.

Can get very busy - queues often shorter at El Cafecito near Fowlmere or Teacake in Shepreth, both just a 5 minutes ride away.

Great Coffee and cake spot also do pizza if you are feeling really hungry, cycle friendly with plenty of bike storage.

The Church of St John The Baptist is a Grade I-listed church in the heart of Royston. Founded as an Augustinian Priory in the second half of the 12th century, it was transformed into a parish church after Henry VIII’s dissolution. The west tower dates to the 16th century. Inside, you can observe a finely-carved wooden pulpit and lectern from the 15th century and a medieval octagonal font.

The Grade II listed BUILDING now houses a restaurant.

Discover Royston Cave, hidden beneath Melbourn Street. It was discovered purely by accident in 1742 when a millstone was found just beneath the surface of the ground. The removal of the millstone revealed a vertical shaft into the chalk, which on investigation led into a cave hewn out of the solid chalk. (http://www.roystontown.uk/see-do/)
