A lovely walk at any time of the year, there is a steep ascent, good footwear and a pole are advisable.

There's a great path along the river here. The water rushes, the birds sing in the forest, and it's truly relaxing.

From the parking lot near the bridge you can set off on beautiful tours.

A beautiful granite outcrop overlooking the Plym valley, and surrounding woodland. The cliff itself is a somewhat stark contrast to the rest of the moor, it's lush and tree lined, rather than wind-swept and desolate. Even the rock type is much different, it's generally much finer and smoother granite, rather than the big sharp crystals as found elsewhere on the moor. The cliff offers some fantastic rock climbing, and some brilliant open views.

Area of Woodland in Dartmoor National Park. The woodland is home to some ancient broad-leaf trees, and a diverse range of flora and fauna. You'll also see some relics from the area's granite and clay mining past. The trails in this area in the wood are a mix of steep, rooty, technical, to comfortable and mellow former-tramway. Go and explore! The woodland holds the fantastic Dewerstone Crag, which arguably has some of the best climbing routes in the South-West.

While there is a crossing here (and Komoot routes across it) I would avoid it as the path is only marked by sticks and few short posts. The river is also tidal and even at low tide you would still have to wade through water and mud to cross it. So best to avoid crossing here and go up river to Lopwell Dam, where there is a granite walkway at low tide.

The River Plym runs through Dartmoor, joins the River Meavy and then out to the sea at Plymouth. The river bubbles over rocks and meanders round moss lined trees as it races its way towards Plymouth Sound.
