Can be hard to clear the top section, just give it your best shot.

Rode this on the gravel bike. It’s mostly doable but there are some parts where I had to pick the bike up so I didn’t ruin the drive train. I have a 2x system with 40mm tires. No regrets on taking this route though, there are some incredible views of the the Dales!

Expensive parking but some nice routes

Great route despite the heavy rain in previous days. Will plot a route staying more on the high moor tracks.

Sutton Bank National Park Centre - all the facilities to start and finish your ride.

Cafe & bike shop both take card payments (and apple payments even if theres no signal). Great place to stop for a slice of cake, sandwich and a coffee. Or bike repairs if needed (and a bit of clothes shopping with all the latest brands there).

Great riding here. But what a pity they call it "Stainburn"! Been known to us locals as Norwood Edge ever since I remember. Stainburn is actually a few miles away, and the so-called "Stainburn forest " is locally known as "Lindley Moor". We get bikers turning up at Leathley on Stainburn lane asking for directions and I have to point them in the opposite direction.

This is the usual place where people go when they choose to do their Dalby Forest adventures! There's a car park, a café, tourist information, trail maps, bike hire, and much more. This forest is in a dark skies area too, so there are two observatories here hosting stargazing events from time to time. An obvious place to make a stop on your Tour, particularly if you need some good coffee and much-desired flapjack!

This is the North York Moors National Park visitor centre, café and information centre. An excellent place to stop for food and drink or, of course, to start your adventures from. There is a wonderful pump track here, minutes from the centre itself (in Hambleton Plantation) and great rides through Cliff Plantation, too. There are excellent views all the way to Yorkshire Dales from near here. Also, spot the lovely wooden sculptures of animals peppered all over the place!

A good climb on the Red / Blue MTB trail here straight from Low Dalby. It can be difficult to begin with, but I suppose that's what it's all about, isn't it?

For hundreds of years Stockdale lane has been a drovers route over the moor and today it is a superb MTB route. Either a challenging climb over limestone boulders or a fantastic technical descent among spectacular scenery, it's a must ride!

Medusa's Drop is a rather famous (or infamous?) part of the Red Route with a very steep drop down through the forest here: zigzags, switchbacks, berms and more. The lower part of the descent is quite challenging, so this is really for experts!

Dixon's Hollow must be a mountain bike dream come true. You might be a walker, but it is nonetheless interesting to look at the MTB course here; there are usually bikers here. Stay on the path, though, and enjoy the spectacle from afar!

Lots of amazing walks from here, lots of parking, food and toilets to use and a very handy bus stop to get you back to Helmsley
