The northernmost border of the Roman Empire in the British Isles was secured against the Celtic tribes by a massive structure: Hadrian's Wall, built in the 120s. Been back recently if there is no road parking you can park at the farm turn right through the gate and follow the parking signs £5 all day or £10 for over night also vending machines and national trust toilets near by
