The former grand estate at Marbury is now an expansive country park with miles of walking trails, an arboretum, children's play area and beautiful woodlands. There's also an outdoor swimming pool (members only).

Stunning engineering and a good visitor centre

The Anderton Boat Lift is a tremendous feat of engineering that provides a 50 foot (15.2 m) vertical link between the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal. The structure was built in 1875 and was used for more than 100 years until it was closed in 1983 due to corrosion. Restoration started in 2001 and the lift reopened in 2002. The structure is designated as a scheduled monument.

Marbury Country Park boasts avenues of lime trees, an arboretum, a wildlife-rich mere, and even has an outdoor swimming pool (£8 for adults, £5 for children). The park is nestled within Northwich Community Woodlands, where former industrial land is gradually being reclaimed by nature. This is a great place place to stop and grab a coffee and cake also has a cool cafe and is right by the boat lift.
