Audlem is a stunning little town with a striking church and high street. Nice to see a place decked out with Union Flags.

Audlem is an attractive place--beware of the traffic if you are on bike though!

Audlem is a sizeable picturesque canal side village with a long history that goes back to the doomsday book. Audlem is famous for its run of 15 locks designed by Thomas Telford to raise the canal up from the Cheshire plain. The walk along the locks is regarded as one of the finest walks in lowland England.

I had the chance to see the bridge lift ! The pub next to it was great … some years ago but now turned for the worse ( do nit order a cappuccino unless you like tepid milked coffee).

Shroppie fly now reopened nice selection of beers on tap, dog friendly.

Lift bridge just outside Wrenbury. If you try really hard you can imagine your in the Netherlands crossing a small canal!

The canal wharf at Wrenbury Bridge is rather picturesque and a lovely place to stop for a picnic. This historic lifting bridge lets narrowboats pass and is great fun to watch in operation. On a sunny day, the canal looks like it should be on a postcard, particularly if boats are moored up. Wrenbury is small but lovely and you can find a bite to eat in one of its cafes. There are two pubs at the canal bridge.

Audlem is a great place to explore, several interesting walks starts in the village including the one we did with our 3 year old Grand daughter.

Plenty of benches outside for a rest and more seating in the graveyard. Say hallo to the cat from us!

Constructed during the 18th century, the Shropshire Union canal served as a vital artery during the Industrial Revolution. Today, the canal flows through Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire from Ellesmere Port on the River Mersey to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal in Wolverhampton.

Take a seat and relax next to the canal with a pint or a coffee.

Audlem is situated on the Shropshire Union Canal which has a run of 15 locks, designed by Thomas Telford, to raise the canal from the Cheshire Plain to the 93 feet (28 m) higher Shropshire Plain.

Next to the canal in Audlem, and great if you're travelling the canal on a boat, the Shroppie Fly is a typical pub, offering a great selection of food.
