There is a car park here, which is managed by the National Trust. There are lovely hiking trails all around through the Broads and to the North Sea coast. You can see several colonies of seals on the coast.

A wonderful place for a gentle amble all year round, Hickling Broad is a haven for wildlife. The nature reserve here covers 1,500 acres (600 ha), while the lake is the largest of all in the Broads, as well as having the largest reedbed in England. The birdlife is a treat at any time of year, while there's always the chance of spotting the iconic swallowtail butterfly.

A wonderfully attractive building, St Nicholas' is known for its hammerbeam roof and its unique 15th-century brick font. It’s set slightly away from the village, overlooking picturesque fields. The round tower originated in the 12th century, though its superb octagonal extension dates from the 14th century.

August - many seals to watch from the dune above. Coastal path too sandy to cycle in places so push for a few yards.

During the seal pupping season the beach is closed (end October to late January) part of the dunes are also closed Please take care as seals and pups can be found anywhere even in the carpark

Built in 1771, Brograve Mill is shrouded in legend. Also known as the Devil's Mill, some say that Sir Berney Brograve, who built the mill, was chased into the building by the Devil, who was angry that his land had been drained. Sir Brograve sheltered in the mill all night, with the sound of the Devil banging at the door. When he left the next morning he found horses hoof prints all over the door. It's now a Grade-II listed building.

The helpers and conservationists give valuable tips on where the groups can best be seen at the moment and they protect these dear animals and discourage some unreasonable tourists from getting too close to the seals. Little gem of a pretty mooring, great little shop and boat hire

There is a small coffee shop, if you need a break.

Don’t follow the Komoot route to the car park and along the beach. Go further sown the road, turn left to the Nelson Pub and continue along gravel track to beach. Far less distance to push your bike through the sand!

Lots of seals on the beach, if you want to take good photos then avoid Horsey Gap as the beach is guarded by guards and prevents you from getting closer. Besides, the place is always full of people.

Big seal colony - easy to access

In the winter months this area can become quite water logged. Remember to close any gates behind you to ensure the Konik Ponies don't escape when they are in the reserve.

Be aware that this area is rife with ticks in the summer months so check yourself and any pets over thoroughly when you leave.
