Had a very nice walk out from Trent Lock along the River Trent and back alongside the golf course. Finished the walk off with an excellent cream tea at the Lockhouse Tearooms

Cranfleet is a short navigational cut off the River Trent. There is a lock here to allow boats to pass.

Cranfleet Flood Lock is a minor waterways place on the River Trent (Western End) between Trent Junction (Junction of River Trent, Grand Union Leicester Section and Erewash Canals) and Thrumpton.

awesome route along the trent, plenty of refreshment stops - head towards the david attenborough reserve for something extra nice on your bike.

A lovely locations for a walk, head toward Nottingham and a few nice pubs for food and drinks.

Nottingham Yacht Club is a small friendly boat club run and maintained by its members.

Lovely old pub with large beer garden.

Good location, nice views of Trent Lock, good beer for some mid-ride hydration

One of Britain's principal canal junctions, Trent Lock's great meeting of waterways is also the border between the historic counties of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. Here, the River Soar and Erewash Canal link to the Trent and Mersey canal via the River Trent and its Cranfleet Cut. The River Soar forms the border between Leicestershire in the west and Nottinghamshire in the east, whilst the River Trent forms the Derbyshire border.

There are some lovely country walks in the area surrounding the large village of East Leake. To the north west are the West Leake Hills, a gently rolling patchwork of farmland and woodland. The Midshires Way long-distance trail passes through the village. In the village you will find a Co-op supermarket and a number of smaller shops for a quick mooch. There are four pubs and plenty of other places to eat or drink. Accommodation can be sought at the Midshires Way Campsite and Alpaca Farm, which has modern glamping lodges, or at Elms Farm B&B.

Great way to cycle through Nottingham. Keeps you off busy roads. You will need a bell to warn pedestrians!

Trent Lock is where the Erewash Canal feeds into the River Trent and it was the main link to the sea for the Cromford Canal as well. When the textile industry was at its height, these were naturally crucial waterways for transporting goods in and out. These days you'll see still some boats but the main perks are the pub and cafe at the lock, making it ideal for any cyclist to take a break and refuel.
