A great area for cycling or walking, the flag stones are very easy to navigate but caution is required at the steps on the way up or down. Again, the views are magnificent here so take your time and take them in.

The war memorial commemorating the men of Royton who died during the First World War stands at the highest point in the park, and was unveiled on 22 October 1921 by the Earl of Derby. Originally the memorial, which is constructed from Portland stone, bore plaques listing the fallen and a bronze statue. The original plaques were stolen in 1969, and replacements were later installed in the grounds of St Paul's, Royton.

These monuments, which carry the memory of the victims of war from one generation to the next, are most commonly found in towns and villages, often near churches or other central locations. A "war memorial" located in the open countryside, as here, is comparatively rare. Regardless of nationality or language, however, it is always a testimony to the horrors of war and tyranny—still significant and relevant even so many decades later. Nice and easy walk around the reservoir. Great to stretch your legs. Plenty of options to make it harder or longer by climbing up the hills.

Catch this descent sometime in the late afternoon and the sun is perfectly behind you, lighting up the trail and the views ahead. Classic moorlands riding. Make sure you're brakes are good for the second descent half, it gets steep with the slabs and steps.

Daisy Nook is a popular country park with many people walking about with children and dogs. There are ponds with swimming birds and they are pleasant to look at

There are several of these barriers in Daisy Nook Country Park. They are narrow and you have to dismount from the bike and twist the handlebars sidewards and push the bike through. They are a bit annoying
