스크리브너 댐은 1963년에 완공된 Molonglo 강에 있는 콘크리트 중력 댐으로, 레크리에이션 및 장식용 수역인 벌리 그리핀 호수를 만드는 역할을 합니다. 측량 기사 찰스 스크리브너의 이름을 딴 이 댐은 높이가 약 33미터, 길이가 319미터이며, 호수 수위를 정확하게 제어하고 홍수 관리 기능을 제공하는 유압식 물고기 배 모양의 플랩 게이트가 있습니다. 또한 댐에는 도로와 도보/자전거 도로가 있으며 캔버라의 주요 엔지니어링 랜드마크의 배경을 형성하는 데 도움이 됩니다.

Canberra Centenary Trail is a long-distance walking and cycling route that forms a 145-kilometre loop around the Australian Capital Territory. In this rural section near Hall, the trail follows easy farm paths and grassy hills as it approaches the climb to One Tree Hill. This quieter part of the route offers expansive views of farmland and distant ranges, giving the walk a remote feel despite being close to Canberra.

Canberra Peace Park is a beautiful memorial garden along Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle, near the National Library of Australia. The park was created during the United Nations International Year of Peace in 1986 and formally dedicated in 1990 as a place for reflection and commitment to peace. Its central monument features the word “Peace” inscribed in the official languages of the United Nations and the Ngunnawal language, set within formal gardens overlooking the lake formed by the Molonglo River.

The National Arboretum in Canberra has beautiful cycling tracks that run across the whole place. It’s perfect for mountain or gravel bikes. The natural scenery combined with the zen of flowing tracks and change in elevation means you could simply ride forever.

Great ride from Kambah Pools to Red Rock Gorge and then finishing off at the Tuggeranong Stone Wall. Some steep sections but mostly rideable with a gravel bike with wide tyres.

A lovely spot to stop for a break or picnic and enjoy the beauty of Lake Burley Griffin.

Late evening views emphasise characteristics of Canberra that one does not get from Mt Ainslie or Black Mountain.
