Isil is a town that is located in the upper course of the Noguera Pallaresa, at an altitude of 1,164 meters, on both banks of the river and on a small island that forms in that place, where the church is attached to the town by a bridge on each side of the church square.

Isil, formerly also called Gil, is a town in the municipality of Alt Àneu, in the region of Pallars Sobirà. Houses, streets and bridges appear as a result of the passing of the years and with an architectural culture of this area of Catalonia. Town famous for the Sant Joan festivities where they bring down faults from the high parts of the mountains.

Beautiful picture that this natural environment of the Alt Pirineo Natural Park gives us when we cross the La Noguera river from the Perosa Bridge. From this point there are 3 itineraries that are indicated on the information panel that we will find next to the bridge.

The church of Santa Maria de Ribera de Cardós has been transforming over the centuries. It is currently in the Baroque style and little remains of the appearance it had in the Romanesque period. Right next to it, we find the ''Creu de Terme'' of Ribera de Cardós (monumental cross, usually made of stone, which was located at the entrances of towns or monasteries) It is Gothic in style and was formerly at the entrance of the Valley of Cardós.
