Previously it was a Franciscan convent until in 1835 it became the parish church of Santa María del Campo. Over time the church underwent various reforms. In 1905 the belfry that was on the wall of the Gospel was demolished and the current bell tower was built in its place.

Chapel of the Trinity or Watchtower. It is one of the oldest temples in Ribadeo, built in the 12th century by Fernando II on sections of the old Ribadeo walls. It is located on a promontory from which the entrance to the estuary can be seen and in which torches were already placed in medieval times to guide sailors at night.

Today the ethnographic park houses the remains of an old freight loading area, a train unloading point. It is a walkway that served as a loading platform in an industrial mining complex based on the extraction of iron. With the help of a crane, the cargo from the train was transferred to the ships below, thus facilitating trade with deep-draft ships, by avoiding them having to enter the estuary and depending on the rise and fall of the tides.
