Amazing Loch to visit, so tranquil and really high quality paths for an easy walk

The waterfall isn't far from the Grey Mare's Tail Waterfall parking lot, and the trail is manageable. However, the climb to the summit isn't "easy." It requires good fitness and absolute surefootedness. The trail is full of scree and can only be negotiated with short scrambles here and there. I'm 46 and generally fit. However, after the descent, I can definitely feel my back and knees hurting. Personally, I would classify the circular trail as "moderately difficult."

If you run this section, you can legitimately call yourself a "mountain trail runner". The great news is that this "Mountain Trail" features only a small amount of uphill, the trail named for the views of the surrounding mountains that you get along the path.

The Woodland Trails at Glencoe Lochan are a beautiful place for a trail run. Winding its way through giant North American conifers, the path features excellent views towards the ridges of Beinn a' Bheithir above Loch Leven. A run at springtime rewards you with a carpet of bluebells to admire.

Interesting spot. Unfortunately, the views are quite overgrown so you won't be able to see far from here (as suggested on the information board).

Such a lovely little leg stretcher along the way. Definitely worth a stop.

One of the most impressive waterfalls in this area, the Grey Mare's Tail descends around 40ft into the gorge below. One of the few Via Ferrata's in the UK is situated here, but note that it can only be used under instruction from the owners.

As you follow the woodland trail zigzagging above Kinlochleven, views open up along Loch Leven. On the far left hand side of the Loch you can make out the distinctive summit of the Pap of Glencoe. More breeding ducks live on the Loch than anywhere else in Inland Europe, you might be lucky enough to spot a Sea Eagle too.

Glencoe Lochan was created by Lord Strathcona who lived in Glencoe House. In addition to creating the little lochan, he planted tall redwoods in an attempt to recreate a Canadian feeling landscape to comfort his homesick wife.

The mountain trail is one of the trails in the Glencoe Lochan's impressive North American woodland. With stunning views to the surrounding mountains it is a good place to take in Glencoe without the going getting too tough.

Nestled in Glencoe, the home of Scottish mountaineering sits the Clachaig Inn. Arguably Britains most legendary mountain pub it is the safe haven after a hasty retreat from the surrounding Munros or the location for the first celebratory pint after a successful mission. With a cosy fire, excellent selection of whiskeys and an awe inspiring collection of mountaineering photographs on the wall there are not many better places to end up after a Glencoe outing. There is also accommodation available on the Clachaig Inn, should you need somewhere to stay.

Glen Coe is often cited as being the home of Scottish Mountaineering. It's a historic glen where some of the greatest climbers have tested themselves on the buttresses, ridges and in the corries and gullies of the surrounding Munros. After a day on the hill, there would have been only one place to be: the Clachaig Inn, perhaps Britain's most legendary mountain pub. Anyone who's anyone in British mountaineering will have graced the Clachaig at some point or other. Today, you can still expect to see the region's guides and their guests enjoying a beverage or a meal under its cosy roof, perhaps tapping their feet to some live music. There are a number of accommodation options for those visiting the area too.
