The Hammer Bakker is a huge hilly area consisting of many large heathland areas. Hammer Bakker is still home to a population of the endangered brown-spotted butterfly and many other animals.

A herd of wild Dülmen horses lives in the area. These animals support here with the maintenance of the landscape and nature conservation work.
